We'll have registration links in place for Quads through March 2018 in the next week or so.

Fall Chess Clubs

We're in the process of finalizing our fall schedule.  To aid in your planning, we've posted what we know so far, and will update our club page as details are firmed up.  We expect to have details for all our clubs finalized by the second week of September.  We will add registration links as they become available.  Current club details are here.

Two important changes in this year's schedule:

  • Findley is moving back into it's traditional after school slot.
  • Jacob Wismer is moving to Monday evenings instead of Tuesday evenings. This allows us to void the site conflicts that have plagues us over the past few years.

If you have questions about any of our clubs, please give us a call (503-504-5756) or email us at

We'll expand the system to cover registration for Quads and Winter Camp in the next few days.

Bethany Elementary School

We're excited about a new Chess Odyssey program starting this fall at Bethany Elementary School.  The club will meet on Friday afternoons from 2:45-4:15, starting October 9th.  The club is open to 1st-5th graders, with kindergartners welcome with approval from the Chess Odyssey office.  Many thanks to Cathy Cyphers, who was instrumental in our being able to bring chess to the kids at Bethany Elementary. Club details are here.

Jacob Wismer

We're sharing the cafeteria with the Boy Scouts on Tuesday evenings this fall.  In order to schedule around their meetings, the club will start a week early (9/29) and not meet on 10/6.  Then we'll meet on Tuesday nights as usual except for 11/3 (Monday, 11/2 instead), 11/24 (Thanksgiving week) and 12/01 (Monday, 11/30 instead).

September 10, 2015

Findley Elementary School

This year the Findley Chess Club will meet on Monday evenings from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Findley library.  This shift has been necessitated by the school's lack of available space after school.  Our Tuesday night program at Jacob Wismer has been quite popular, and we expect the Findley program will be as well.  Students do not need to attend Findley School in order to come to chess club.

September 9, 2015

With the summer camp season firmly in the rear view mirror, we're busy putting together our fall schedule. We're expecting the first Quads of the fall to be October 9th. The specific site is yet to be determined. We'll post details here and on the OSCF calendar as soon as we have them.

Spring Chess Clubs

Most of our spring chess clubs get underway this week.  You’ll find details and registration links here.  Unfortunately, a paperwork glitch has complicated things for our Beaverton School district clubs.  We’re expecting  Jacob Wismer and   Stoller to start on schedule this week, and  Findley to start next Monday (April 6).   We’ll post any changes to that anticipated schedule on the website  .   You can register for any of our clubs online, or print out the registration form (also on the website) and send it and your check to chess club.  Alternatively, you can take care of forms and finances when you pick up your student(s).  We’ll have registrations forms available at each club.  As always, if you have any questions, or need further information, please feel free to call our office at 503.504.5756 or email us at  .

Friday Night Quads

Jerome & Michelle Swanson have graciously invited us to hold Quads at their place this coming Friday night (  April 3).   Their address is 7755 SW Gearhart Drive, Beaverton, OR 97007.   This edition of Quads will be limited to 16 players.  We hope to have the Quads registration system updated this weekend; however, since we have limited space, if you are intending to play, please email Mike Terrill ( ) immediately.  We’re also planning to hold Quads on  April 10, though that site has not yet been determined.  Hopefully, we’ll be in the Bethany area that evening.  The cut-off for the OSCF Championships in Seaside is  April 15, so our Quads on  April 17 will not be qualifiers, but rather our traditional “Seaside warm-up”.  We expect Quads that evening to be at  Evergreen Presbyterian (7275 SW Hall Blvd. Beaverton, OR 97008).  We'll post updates and further details here on the website.

Summer Camps

We’re planning five week-long full day camps this summer, as well as our two traditional half-day camps. Three camps will be at  Evergreen Presbyterian (   June 22-26; July 13-17 and   August 10-14).   We’re still working on sites for the other two full day camps.  We’re hoping those will be in the Bethany or Hillsboro areas.  Those dates are projected for  July 6-10 and   August 3-7.   Site availability may force us to modify those dates slightly, but we’ll avoid that if at all possible.  The half day camps are at  Mittleman Jewish Community Center (   August 10-14) and  The Multnomah Athletic Club (   June 29-July 3,   MAC members only).   We expect to have details and the registration link available here on the website in the next couple of days.  Then we'll post updates as they become available.
